Learning objectives
By the end, participants can:
- Explain the Workspace plan lineup (Starter, Standard, Plus and Enterprise, with Gemini included in every plan and broader access from Standard upwards) and the difference between Workspace Gemini and the consumer plans
- Walk through the admin controls (Admin console, Menu, Generative AI, Gemini for Workspace, then Feature access; on by default, per service, needs the Gemini Settings administrator privilege, Admin console, Menu, Generative AI, Gemini app; the Apps section controls which Workspace services the Gemini app may read (on by default) and the Gem sharing section allows or blocks sharing) and state their defaults
- Answer the data-governance questions from Google's stated commitments (customer content is not used to train models without permission, is not human-reviewed outside the domain, and stays within the organisation; certifications include SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, ISO 27018 and ISO 42001)
- Pull the adoption numbers from the Gemini reports (Admin console, Menu, Generative AI, Gemini reports: org-level and user-level usage, active users as a share of licences, per-app adoption, active days in the past 28, users hitting limits; data lags 2 to 3 days) and choose one to promise
- Place Google's certification and training offers (Generative AI Leader: 90 minutes, $99, 50 to 60 multiple-choice questions, no prerequisites, valid 3 years, the Google Skills path 'Google Workspace with Gemini' (11 activities) for staff, and the Google AI Professional Certificate on Coursera for a broader credential) in a rollout without making them the rollout
- Write a ninety-day plan that builds a workflow before it adds people
What's in this module
7 lessons · 5 exercises · ~7 min reading
Starts withWhy Gemini rollouts fail in a specific way~1 minExecutive summary
You will learn what a Gemini rollout across Workspace actually involves: which licences buy what, which switches the admin console has and what they default to, what Google commits to about your data, how adoption is measured with the reports you already have, what Google's own training and certification landscape offers, and how to sequence the first ninety days. End state is a one-page rollout decision for your organisation: plan, controls, governance answers, the first deliverable to build around, the number you will report at day ninety, and who is doing what in weeks one and two. After this module you can hold the licensing conversation without being sold to, read the admin console with your IT lead, answer the data question from Google's page rather than from memory, choose the adoption metric that will survive a board meeting, and decide what not to do in the first month.
